    Galaxy S

Nokia called to tell me the N8 wouldn't be released on 24 August as they originally indicated. The new date 20 September. So I canceled my pre-order and purchased a Galaxy S from AT&T. The downside is that AT&T won't provide unlock codes for 10 months per a US Court order. I'll have to buy an unlocked handset for travel.

I started to explore it last night, but quickly ran out of battery power since it only had a 50% charge initially. So far it seems to be pretty good except the GPS navigation map downloads are a bit slow over "n" WiFi.

Nice, I wanted a Galaxy S but it seemed large and Verizon does not have a release date yet.

However I will be pickup Samsungs 7" Tablet with the Galaxy S.

As a side note on the GPS: There is a known issue with GPS location fixes on the Galaxy S hardware.

The Galaxy S Pro looks appealing as it's one of the few Android handsets to have a phyiscal keyboard although I don't like their Iphone-like UI.

Actually the unit I purchased has an update installed. So far there are 6 out of 7 satellites locked in consistently. GPS was a primary concern of mine as I was fully aware of the issues. Battery life isn't very good, but at least I have a spare. I got a half a day per battery today, my first 24 hours of actual use. I bought a 32GB SanDisk MicroSDHC that should arrive by Friday. I got it from Verizon Wireless for $99 with free shipping. The list price is $199. (A few months ago Verizon sold them for $50.)

Also there is a Samsung utility, Kies, that is a must have, but not normally available in the USA. One just has to tell the server they are in the UK.

I don't see that happening anytime soon. There are other brands that are less expensive, but I always buy SanDisk.

I ordered about 5 pm ET yesterday and it was delivered this morning about 10:30 am.

Verbatim and Kingston come immediately to mind. There may be others available as well.

smart alec! I already knew that... I was under the impression that if it was more generic brands, price for 32 GB micro SD card was below $50. None show in that price range! I could've told you that I found some over $100!

32GB Micro SD is still over $100 so clearly you wont find one for $50... Unless you find a special / deal.
