Oh, now now...
I still play other games (like CoD, BF1942, and NWN)...
But Bookworm is such a unique and simple game yet addictive ... kinda like "Minesweeper"!!

Trust me, there's no limit to what a marriage can drive you to..

Easy to get addicted to BW.....have played it for many hours. To get a really good score though, you need to be patient and strategize a bit....and that ain't for me, LOL.

I got a score that was vastly higher than that, however, I don't know if it was on the deluxe version or the regular version. I know I never paid for Bookworm.
What I recall was that eventually I simply gave up and quit the game. After level 40 or 50 or something, you reach the point where the game doesn't get any harder, so if you can survive at that level, you can keep playing forever.
-
I just tried again to remind myself of the game, now I recall. I was playing the free version of the game, which you can play through yahoo games.
The trick to getting a high score is the bonus words. You pretty much need to focus all your attention (other than stopping the red tiles from dropping to the bottom) on the bonus words.
With each one you get, the amount you get for the bonus words goes up, until a maximum of 50,000. So if you get lots of bonus words, you get a huge score.
One of the other tricks is watching the board and making sure you don't get bad clumps of letters. Like, a bunch of I's in one spot, or a huge mass of consonants. I also try to get x's and q's off the board as soon as possible.

Yeah... the downside of this game is that it CAN take several hours and just keep going!!! I checked the best scores and they are in the several MILLIONS!!! I don't even wanna think about how long they played!!

I just checked the high scores, the high score of the DAY was over 10 million. (which is what I got when I played)
The all time high score was something utterly ridiculous like 500 million, but who knows if that is real. Some idiot hackers like to send in fake high scores for games.
