Windows XP Size Problem
When i click on the properties of my C: partition in My Computer (Windows XP) it shows that i have 4.27 GB used, but when i select all the files and folders on the c: partition windows shows their size to be 2.99 GB. What happened to the (4.27 - 2.99) = 1.28 GB.
Note: I have selected for the hideen files and the protected operating system files to be visible.
Thanks!

Formatting takes up space. The larger the drive, the more space formatting takes. Then there's the space for the registry and the swap file. Then there's the difference between the size of a file and the size of a file on the disk (if a file is even one byte over a multiple of 4, that extra byte will use up an entire 4k cluster - it's late and I'm numerically challenged but I think I remembered the numbers correctly). And don't forget the "index.dat" files...well hidden and constantly growing.

I only used 3.1GB of space....
Well, I have all the updates, Office 2K3, Photoshop CS, Norton Antivirus Enerprice Edition Client, etc installed...in total 20+
However, I disabled the Index service, Restoring service, and make my Internet Temp file to 10M...
I don't need the restoring service because I got Norton Ghost...any problems I just restore to the early stage...
Edit: forgot to add I put my pagefile to my E drive, which is the 2 Seagate 120G hdd in Raid 0...
