    Smile Cool Far Cry Tweak

    Right, firstly I apologise if this has been posted already.

    Look inside (installation location permitting)

    C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\Levels

    There should be a folder for each level. Inside each folder there is a file named level.pak. Open with Winzip or whatever, then look for file named mission_xxx.xml (xxx being the mission name). Search the file for the line named

    Water="TerrainWater_OnlySky"

    and replace with

    Water="TerrainWater"

    Save the file, update the zip and now everything should be reflected in the water, including Jack himself, trees, smoke and explosions. I haven't had time to test it yet myself but it sounds good

    [Edit] Duh!

    Well

    You could actually do this in the two demos as well. However, it does lower your frame rate by 7-10 fps I think. Personally, I think the jump in quality is worth it.

    Yep, as it is, my 9800Pro struggles to give me acceptable FRs, don't wanna add to its burden. I'd try this out with a 6800GT/x800Pro and up.

    William Wallace leads his men around a bend. Suddenly Welsh arrows pierce the air around them bringing confusion and panic. In the midst of this confusion and panic a lone soldier is heard raising a strange new cry, "Those f***ing campers!"

    You actually get reflective water with the mx440?
    Impossible.
    I thought it doesn't support pixel shader.

    I couldn't get reflective water eventhough I have the same card.

    What's your secret?

    So has anyone really got this to work yet? What's the FPS hit like? And is it worth that frame loss?

    tbh, no. I didn't notice much of a difference. Trying to see your character reflected in the water works, seemingly, at random and doesn't appear there when it should. It still doesn't reflect things like rocks - ie when a rock is clearly in the way of the background, the reflection shows only the background with no rock etc.

    And I get about a 10 - 15 fps hit... which isn't good.

    Well aside from the peformance hit, maybe this is why it isn't enabled as default.
