    Ways to improve sound quality?

I have an A2 like I said in my topic and some probably not so great speakers. I only know they are loads better then what I had before. I was wondering what I can do to optimise my sound without spending money or losing my EAX in games. I use foobar with the settings in the configure post by Zemo. One question about that is if going to 32bit makes a difference from 24? I don't really seem to notice but which one is theoretically better? so if there are any good driver settings or ways to get the kx drivers and be able to use eax in games still that'd be what i'm lookin for. any hints are appreciated. adios

What speakers do you have? Maybe you can line the inside of the speaker housing with blue tack, or stuff some sound baffing material in there. I think it was Talldude who said that this can improve the sound, so it's worth a shot. It's pretty cheap too

edit: As a matter of fact, I'm going to try this with my p.o.s. Inspires

No way to get EAX or D3D into the KX drivers until the team gets to that point, really, I think. Blue tacking might work, but, really, not much you can do if your speakers are really fairly bad.

Lol, yeah maybe if you had large enough satts with a decent size enclosure you can try XP's recommendation on stuffing the enclosure with sound absorbing material. I believe this really does help the bass and overall sound by absorbing the bass waves and making it sound tighter and more accurate. I believe the current high end multimedia speakers are stuffed. I know the Ultras and PM's are.

XP, Lol I wonder how the Inspires will sound if you do indeed stuff them. Let us know!

They were a birthday present and they are better then my previous $10 speakers so I'm still happy. Anyway I should try to stuff that sats with socks? Also whats the other lining method? I think if you guys could explain it better then it'd be great. I could probably fit a sock in there but does anyhting else work? Also I don't do any of this to the sub right? Thanks

    Here are the speakers.

Yup, putting blutack inside the speakers will take care of some of the resonance problems. Further, stuffing them with some sort of polymer fill (used in stuffed animals, and also specifically made for acoustic application) will help get rid of standing waves and give clarity. The polyfill is especially good for the sub. It'll tighten it up nicely, though your output might be slightly worse.

So the blu tack would go in the satts and sub? Then I should put stuffed animal stuffing in both? Could you guys give me some instructions? What would be great is if XP did this and then took pics so I don't F it up Thanks guys

I wouldn't bother with the tack on the sub; the sub is probably made from MDF and the tack would do next to nothing. Just open up the subwoofer, put in the polyfill so it's still loose, but fills the entire space (make sure you leave room for the driver element), and then close the baby up. For the satellites, put tack on the inner walls. Space permitting, put some polyfill in there as well so that it fills the cavity loosely. It's important that the polyfill is NOT COMPRESSED. It should be nice and fluffy with plenty of air in it.
