How do filter unknow packets on Linksys router
I'm using wireshark
For whatever reason I see a lot of UDP and some TCP packets coming from many WAN IP addresses hitting my Linkys router then router route these packets to my PC on the network. Most are UDP and some are TCP asking for hand shake..
None of any programs on my PC is connected to services.
So I decided to change my local ip address..so those packets are not coming to my PC, but my Router is still going crazy sending out ARP trying to find my last IP address to send these packets to..
How do I filter these type of unknown packets coming in to my linksys router?
Thanks

No unsolicited packets should be forwarded to your PC unless you configured the router to do so.
Is you PC in the DMZ?

Not it's not on DMZ
no ports are open to my PC
I'm thinking maybe because i was downloading a file from limewire couple ours before..an Unfinish download which I've shut limewire down.
It's possible my limewire didn't tell the senders I don't want to receive anymore packets and it just kept on sending even with my limewire shut off maybe?

Very possible - your IP address might still be registered on the Limewire tracker.
Technically, you COULD turn off / disable the port forwarding for the ports that Limewire used... and then turn it back on again when you need to run Limewire in the future. But this is a hassle.
A better solution is to just not worry about it. If Limewire is shut down on your PC, then there isn't anything to listen for those incoming packets. Yes, they get through your Router because you've configured your router to forward them - but if they hit your PC, and your PC isn't listening on those ports, then it's useless. No harm.
