Post Do I need a new HD 80 pin cable?

I have tried two different hard drives on one cable. Both start with transfer rates at normal speed, then after a few seconds, the drives become really slow. I thought it was the hard drive, but it seems now that it may either be the 80 pin IDE cable or the motherboard. I have never experienced anything like this. It is a ATA-66 cable that has the exact same problem with either a 30 gig 7200 rpm seagate drive or a 5400 rpm 8 gig maxtor drive. Has anyone heard of this?

Never seen such a problem.. try a new cable obviously. Do note that the Barracuda 4 series takes an awful lot longer to format than normal drives. I'm not sure why, that's just how it is. I still recommend them though because they are the quietest.
