Thumbs up I'm buying a videocard, few questions :

Hello there, I finally picked up a few dollars and going to buy a videocard.

Here's my usage for the card, and I would like to know which card suits me the most:

    1. 3d game playing, not hardcore, but just want to have a comfortable framerate at 1024x786x32bit.

    2. video capturing (video in), it would be nice to have this feature along with the card.

    3. graphics design, the best 2d quality as possible. (I'm buying a 22" monitor, so I think the monitor part will be fine)

    4. 3d max , I'll be spending times here as well.

Right now, I'm looking into these cards :
    ATI Radeon AIW 32MB DDR
    ATI Radeon VIVO 64MB DDR
    Hercules 3D Prophet 4500 KyroII 64MB

I don't want to spend big bucks on the Geforce3 becuase 3d games is not a big part of my daily life.

Here's my system spec as to give you a better picture of what fits me most:

    AMD Athlon Slot A 1GHz
three 512MB PC133 SDRAM (on the way to my mailbox)
    Maxtor 40GB UDMA66 HDD
    I think I'm going for a NEC Multisync 22", 0.24mm.

Thanks alot for all your help friends.

You'll be glad you'd get the Radeon 64MB. That card fills the bill in all your needs, and then some.

    ATI Radeon AIW 32MB DDR
    or~
    ATI Radeon VIVO 64MB DDR

64MB DDR VIVO, Retail Box, $156 Fedex Saver $5 = 161$...Thats a good price for Video Input card with 64mgs and plays games faster than the AIW. http://www.newegg.com/
But if your doing more MPEG video capturing then the AIW is much better suited for this job..The main dif from the AIW and the Vivo boards is the AIW has a Digital Flat Panel (DVI-I) support and S-video. And the Flat screen prices are dropping out of the sky. Just go look around and see for yourself. Samsung makes a very Nice 15" LCD TRT screen for less than 400$...Something to think about at least. Not many video cards can run these Monitors.

.....and hey, did AIT fixed the radeon problem with Windows2000 ???? (it runs super slow in win2k vs win9x at 3d games)

Because that's all I have, I don't want to lose performance of what I should get.

    thanks!

Here are my two cents: The Radeon just looks more crisp than the Geforce, and if you are not a framerate freak, than it will work for you. I just picked up a AIW Radeon and am quite satisfied! Good luck.
