    Lightbulb Good Text/html Editors

I'm fed up with Synedit. Every now and then it removes all the spaces from my code, making it rather hard to read...

Now I have JBuilder 4 and Dreamweaver, but I thought maybe something smaller would do...

    Any ideas?

I assume you don't want to use something as simple as Notepad ?

Notepad is about as simple as it gets unless you wanna pop open dos and use edit Notepad rules.

Also try Arachnophilia, nice little editor, freeware (or careware), that works with colored html tags just like Frontpage. Also good for asp coding.

Notepad and vi all the way!

If you want something more, should we say "hi-tech", give Wordpad a try...

    Geesh....sorry....sniffle sniffle.

    hahahaha

I'm not a big fan of vi myself, mainly because I've never taken the time to get good in it, learning all the commands and what not. I would say that it is quite powerful for some text editing...but yeah I'd never write a web page in vi...I've edited one through vi in a telnet session once, but that's about it.

Notepad is obviously out of the question. Otherwise I wouldn't have asked

Allaire sounds good. vi: - well thanks a lot!

Actually I started using Dreamweaver today, and, as a fatter of mact, this is one great program! I will never look back. 5 years of programming in Notepad begone!! *sniff*

Synedit couldn't live up to it's expectations but I must say Dreamweaver has!

    Thanks folks!

Oh, btw: anyone ever used Authorware?? Rather nice actually.

I'm actually going to go on a Macromedia course next month, so I will be learning about Dreamweaver and a bunch of other Macromedia stuff that I'm too lazy to do on my own steam... So you reckon that Dreamweaver is good?

I like Notepad myself. A guy I used to work with always used a program called Edit+. Check that one out...sounds like what you're looking for.
