    I would get a DDR vid card, it makes a HUGE difference between SDR cards...the rest looks fine and a nice price.

    I agree on the graphics card but if you dont game to much go for the sis 32mb its a good little card i have it in my second comp get pretty good fps and quality for the money. Also go with the maxtop case that is $45 and comes with 2 fans one top mounted and one side and 330watt qmax ps. And do you need the Dvd i got one in mine and ive not once watched a dvd on it. Here would be the setup i would use

    Asus A7S333
    XP 1600+
    MAXTOP 147KG2F-USB BLUE
    Cheap CD-ROM
    SiS 305 vid card
    Danalec 256meg DDR (still has lifetime waranty)
    total=273
    add nic and other stuff and you rset for cheaper and you get asus and a pretty cool casewith all the bonuses

    looks like a pretty sweet system for that price...though I would look at Visiontek GeForce2 GTS-V for a video card. But unforunately, its unavailable at newegg at the moment.
    Apparently this part of my signature was deemed offensive by the administration at some point and removed.

    thanks again.. i've never built a system before, but figure it shouldn't be too tricky with the manuals and all.. btw, is newegg the best/cheapest place to go, or should i look for a local vendor? also does anyone know if fedex will deliver to MailBoxes etc.. i know they won't deliver to a PO box.

    you can try a local vendor, but usually you only get better prices than newegg on a big sale

    newegg is very good, except for their shipping prices, imo

    Given you're newbie-ness to building, be very wary of OEM products! Most OEM products come with only the part... IE no manuals. Naturally, they can be downloaded over the internet, but you never know. If the difference in price isn't too significant, you might wanna get the retail box on some of the parts. Or, find a friend who's build one before and go all OEM... hehe.
