Ah, ye ol' smiley face EQ....

Yeah, that EQ setting should sound pretty good to untrained ears! no offense, of course.

    How about no EQ?

Well, unless your speakers suck. Then EQ might help. But I don't think it's necessary for mx5021's.

What EQ setting would I reccomend? well, it needs to be determind for each individual and listening preferences...what you need to do is generate a 20-20k sine sweep. listen to it about 400 times. some parts of it will sound louder than others, even though they arn't. You use a MANY band EQ to lower the volume of parts that sound louder than others. Just apply that EQ to everything you listen to. Of course, this assumes the recording tech did a good job of EQ'ing the first time through, wich, as we all know, is NOT the case with 95% of music.

    Flat is good.
    Dull isn't
Also the smiley face is done by newbs to audio. I was one of them, and learned what equalization is up and down, left and right. It should only be applied after the last tweak of poor acoustics or recordings. Most of the time there is plenty of bass and treble. What lacks is good midrange in commercial audio.

What works best for me is keep everything flat, that just means what comes out of the cd signal is the EXACT mix that is sent to the speakers.
In the creative mixer set it to from default of 50 treble to 47. This takes care of the slightly over done treble. I wouldn't raise it though
Whats your settings on the bass treble next to volume?

As long as it sounds good to you, Vengance_01. That's all that matters.

I personally have my A2's treble and bass at 50%.

As the others have said, it's a standard treble/bass boost. Kind of the equivalent of throwing on a pair of V6s with a flat EQ...
