    Windows 7 search folder search

You know how in Win XP u can just right click on a folder or a drive then select search...did they do away with this feature or it's hidden some where?

Another feature i'm missing from Xp is winzip file right click to explore..what did they do with it in Win7?

    I don't have my 7 machine on...

If you right click while highlighted on a folder you should see an option to Search...You should also see an option to Send to Compressed....

Click the windows button and you will see a search field right above it. Type in the extension, file name, folder name, anything and it will instantly bring up the results. One of the major features of Vista/7 is the indexed search function.

Right click doesn't give me any search option but it has a search box at the top to do search in the directory you are in..which is fine with me

You can search any folder or any hard drive. The search is on the top right corner of the explorer window. So whatever you have in that window is searched.

This. Just type away and it finds stuff for you.

This may be a stupid question, but did you uninstall the Windows Search component, or disable the related service in any way? Make sure that "Windows Search" is one of the services that Automatically starts at Windows boot.
