desktop vs laptop graphics
Ok I am probably going to pull the trigger on a TV for my bedroom this weekend with the Labor Day sales. The question is how to best drive it. I have several choices. My current laptop which is a stop gap at best since it has crap Intel graphics. I still have never been able to figure out why Intel can't fight their way out of the proverbial wet graphics paper bag. That being said. I am considering a new laptop with an A10 APU which will be significantly faster than my current one. I also have a desktop with a 720BE/Xfired 4850s that is sitting idle except for the occasional transcode job. A quick comparison shows the specs of the 4850x2 to be better than the 7870M by a wide margin. I know that does not necessarily translate directly to performance but it is a rough estimate. The last option would be a new build. The question is how will the A10 compare to the 4850x2 and what could I build for the price of a new laptop?
