Ok so, I have gone to great lengths to cool down my overclocked Core 2 Quad Q9450 (stock 2.66GHz) to a healthy and stable 3.4GHz using liquid cooling...now my northbridge is hotter than I would like it. A couple weeks ago I bought a Cooljag 12v Falcon miniX northbridge chipset cooler to bring the temp down so I can push it even faster to my goal of 3.6GHz. I have done a lot of reading and it is possible....I know its an older platform but the system as a whole is a workhorse (and my htpc) and a long time labor of love. Upgrades are over due I know..but $ is what the hold up is right now

Here is my problem....the chipset cooler kit only comes with 3mm push pins and the push pin mounting arms are only big enough for a 3mm diameter push pin.....my motherboard has 6mm mounting holes. What to do, what to do? The cooler got decent marks and came highly recommended to me an old skool and long time overclocker since the socket A days. It's a nice looking product and have no doubt it will do the job. I have contacted Cooljag and was told there are no solutions as far as sending me different push pin arms and it is what it is.

Things I have considered...reaming out the holes of the push pin arms to accept a bigger diameter push pin that fits my 6mm mounting holes. Problem with that is leaving enough material to give me a good tight contact to the chip. Certainly doable but I only get one chance to get it right. Another thing I considered is a thermal adhesive epoxy and just glue the bugger right to the chip. problems I foresee with that is not getting it right or it doesn't work and ruining my northbridge chip all together.

So I am looking for any other suggestions on still being able to use the Falcon miniX or a totally different product. The only requirement is it must use 6mm push pins. Any thoughts?
