How's this for a new system?

Here's what I hope to be ordering from newegg in the next few days. I do plan to overclock, probably with a Thermalright SK7 (fan unknown). The system is for everything from Dreamweaver to Lightwave 3D - tell me what you think.

CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2100+
RAM: Kingston PC3000 512MB
Motherboard: Epox 8RDA+
Case/PSU: Chieftec ATX-601AE green w/ 450W PSU
Hard drive: On hold (considering WD Special Edition w/ 8MB cache)

Video card: On hold (considering Geforce FX5600 400MHz)
Sound card: Audigy 2 OEM

DVD-ROM: Samsung 16x
Keyboard/mouse: Chieftec optical combo, green

I have a couple of questions, if anyone cares to answer them:
1) Will I be able to use the PC3000 when I upgrade to a next-gen platform?
2) Is the PSU that comes with the case any good?

First of all.....it'd be a good thing to know what you're budget is and as far as your config goes:

CPU: I would go for the AMD Athlon XP 2500+, as you are getting the 512 L2 cache and a high clock speed to boot
RAM: Go with the kingston hyperx pc3200 and get two sticks for dcddr
Motherboard: 8rda+ is a good choice
Case/PSU: fine
HD: the WD 80 gig w/ 8mb cache would be a good choice
Videocard: go with the radeon 9500 pro for just a lil more you'll see a lot more performance
sound: fine

1. you would be able to but it depends on when you upgrade and pc3200 or 3500 would probably last longer
2. chieftec psu's are ok but maybe go for a decent antec case that comes with a trupower psu

I agree with l_bastard. And, the Chieftech PSU's are crap (made by Foxconn; their 450's go for under 30 bucks...that should tell you a lot about their quality). I bought an Enermax case that is EXACTLY the same (well, it's black) and it came with a 330 (or 350) Enermax powersupply. Go with Enermax or Antec psu's for sure, very reliable. And, as for everything else, get a 9700 NP, 2500 Barton and 3200 RAM. Why? Because you're going to be running Lightwave.
1. Lightwave will appreciate the power (you'll thank yourself later).
2. If you've got the bucks to buy Lightwave (or did you already have it...irregardless...) you should be able to spend the extra $100-$150 or so.

by the time u want to upgraade that system dont u think ddr2 might be out? just a thought......

ATI 9500 pro/AMD 2500+ Barton/Antec power supply and case. SX 630 possibly...
