A good value - x800xt ?
Hi. since the death of my radeon 9800 pro (not to long ago), I have been looking for a replacement or a newer agp video card. Since pci-e has has been out I have seen that these cards are of lower priced compared to its agp counterparts.
Now i remember some time ago (say about 2 yrs) the ati all in wonders were priced very high (300 USD and up), but at mwave.com i am getting an x800xt all in wonder for 150 USD. I consider this a terrific value !. Is something wrong with this card in this present time ?. I know it does not support a shader version (HDR?)that the newer cards eg 6800's and higher do. But benchmarks etc show a solid performer in newer games eg fear, oblivion (even without that shader).
I consider this an excellent value for agg users not as an upgrade but possibly for the same reason i had.

Definitely. When I went with a S939 system, I was adamant about keeping my X800XT PE so I picked up an ASRock board that had both PCI-e and AGP slots. The X800XT is still quite a capable card. It definitely outperforms the 7600GT (for example) in games like Oblivion. Sure HDR would be nice to have, but to be honest, it's not really a deal breaker in most cases. A $150 X800XT AIW is definitely a great buy!

Good price. Make sure to upgrade your cpu, at the very least to a moble barton and overclock it to the moon
