Assuming the prices are anywhere close, and I'd guess they are, I'd get the FX-60. You get an unlocked multiplier, especially handy if you want to crank the "FSB" and memory speeds to get some insane (albeit pretty useless) bandwidth.

That's because in the end, clock speed is what matters more than high FSB (more bandwidth for CPU). Between 8 x 300 and 10 x 250, I'd pick the latter 'cause clock speed is 100 MHz faster... and in games and such, that's what matters more...

You'll probably never notice the extra bandwidth. I'd say you'd never notice it, but you never know. Look at some benches that compare various memory speeds and latencies, it makes little difference. I still stick with low latency memory because it is better stuff and if I have to go over it's rated speed overclocking, it should be better than cheaper stuff.

I would choose the FX60 any-day.. its a high speed binned actually
the Opty 185 is no diff then 165 or 170, rather get the 165-170 they yield the same clock speed in the end when they are OCed.
FX60 will go much higher, and the happiness to own a CPU that was the most expensive a few years ago :

I can get it to go at 2.8 by going 14x,at stock Vcore of 1.35v.
Besides from that, anything else I have tried fails.

2.8ghz is pretty good on Stock vcore TBH.
bump the Voltages a bit and try clocking higher
wht are the load temps you getting on this right now ?

Really, 2.8GHz isn't bad. You might be able to get 3 if you've got a good chip (likely) and push the vcore.

I have a fx60 and I picked up a Opteron 180 for $165 for my sons rig and what I noticed is the fx60 runs hot as hell and I can get the clocks basically the same but the price on the 185 keeps going up I have noticed.I would say a 170 or so I see you have a fx60 now. I am trying to not upgrade as all my apps "games" run fine now but my god as this stuff get cheaper and much faster it's hard to fight the upgrade bug back! Wake

I know I see a 6000+ so cheap and 2gb of ddr2 for about $100 is really hard to resist S AM2.I got told to hold out for AM2+.
I tried duplicating your settings and it went up to 2940,then it froze.
