Xi-fi Titanium + Windows 7 =
"Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system. Please ensure that your product is properly installed before running this Setup program."
I've been trying pretty much all night to try to get this thing to work. I couldn't imagine this would be such a nightmare.
Is there anyone on this forum that is running this sound card on Windows 7? I need to be convinced that it's even POSSIBLE.
If not, someone recommend a sound card. Preferably not Creative Labs.
I mean, look at this archived thread about this guy trying to get this card to work:

Get rid of creative, this is a great card for cheap.

I'm running an X-Fi under windows 7, but not the Titanium.
The built-in set of drivers got me most of the way, then I went and downloaded the latest (last?) driver set at Creative for the X-Fi series.
Once all that was done, I also installed the Creative Control panel. <-- Extra work, but I want to make sure I can set 5.1 sound properly, and I don't trust Creative to play nice.
The sound card sounds great. Setting it up was a royal pain.
If it's worth the ~$40 to you, get the card mentioned above, should install without a hitch and work great.
Otherwise, my suggestions are:
1. Get the latest X-Fi Win7 (I'll assume x64 unless otherwise noted) here from Creative.
2. Install it, if it has problems, try installing it in compatability mode. I vaguely remember Creative using a horrible and old version of the installer software.

Yeah I downloaded the beta drivers and I immediately get that same error message. I also just did a clean and updated install of Win7.
I also hear that the ASUS Xonar has similar issues. And it looks like newegg has taken Win7 compatibility off both cards!

I don't know, maybe I'm a f***ing idiot. But it doesn't matter which patch or driver version I find of this card, I instantly get the same error message. I can't even find a download location for this creative control panel anywhere on the internet. The install CD that it came with will not let me install it seperately because it also gives me the same message.
I don't even believe you James. I don't think this card is at all compatible with W7 and the people who got it working are actually running onboard audio or something.

Great White Shark
I have basically 3 X-Fi's -
SB X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS (PCI)
SB X-Fi ExtremeMusic (PCI)
Auzentech X-Fi Forte 7.1 (PCIe x1)
All have drivers which are WHQL certified compatibility, and I've never had any issue at all.....well, other than crackling and popping sound back when HL2 was first released. I believe I had an A2 ZS then...

So let me get this straight, using CL's installers immediately gives me an error message (always the same one I posted)?
Their phone number is a long-distance number to Singapore.
Their forums are littered with frustrated people and threads are constantly deleted (SOMEONE is watching).
I don't know much more a company can do to be any worse. All these companies that ship jobs overseas are strangely all like this. I'm done with CL pernamentaly. Sometimes you gotta know when enough is enough.

Good luck with the X-FI cards. Do you have an SSD as you primary hard drive?

I was BSODing left and right after installing some windows updates recently. Had no idea what the problem was, until I came across a post mentioning recent Windows Updates and XFi Titanium issues. I uninstalled the card and the BSODs went away immediately. I'll be sticking with onboard sound from now on, I can't tell the difference anyway.
