Question Need basic G or N info

I am not sure what kind of router is in use but my wireless G card runs up to 54 mbps, usually 24 or 36 mbps. If the router were N would I get a consistent 54 mbps while running a G card or would it vary the way a G to G connection does?

it would vary with the way G to G is as you wifi card is the bottleneck.

AFAIK you won't really get full 54mbps as some of that is used for error correction and overhead
