I didn't realize how much I have grown to like the "iron sights" view that was introduced in Vietcong (?) and made popular in the COD series. It felt like I was playing John Wayne shooting baddies from the hip haha. I found it funny that my GPU downclocked to 300mhz and even then was only at 20-30% load on ultra settings at 1080p with full AA. I remember that game crippling computers on ultra. I even remember enthusiasts try to soothe their wounds by saying high looked just as good, grumble grumble.
The thing that struck me the most is how far we've come in 8 years, its hard to believe its even been 8 years. Some things have been lost in modern games like the smoothness and direct feel of the controls.
I couldn't play for more than an hour, but it was great to go back and try it out just to see how much things have changed.
PS the facial animation is worth going back to just for a huge laugh.
Lol, I havnt played doom3 since my first semester at college. It is hard to believe that its been 8 years, even since HL2.
