Who thinks Bethesda is going to screw up the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series?

I unfortunately think they will. All three of the originals were great games once the mod community fixed all the problems. That was just a problem with the development team not the the games themselves.

If we hit that bull's eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

I don't roll on Shabbos!
I don't see how they could screw it up, it's already a really janky game.

Has got that jut
I think essentially any developer not based in Eastern Europe would screw it up. They really make some games there that aren't much like anyplace else, jank and all. STALKER, Metro 2033, The Witcher, etc. all bring a little bit of style and mood in presentation that are somewhat unique to the region.

I agree. The eastern European style is definitely unique like it or not. I am not sure what Janky means. If you mean buggy, the Complete series of mods pretty much fixed all three if the games and added significant upgraded graphics.

Jank just means generally unpolished with maybe a side of strange game concepts. It's not always actual bugs, could just be odd animations, awkward dialogue trees and/or translations, bad voice acting, control issues, general unintuitiveness, etc.
A fairly decent description I've heard before is "designed by engineers, not designers." Tons of ambition but the people that made it likely bit off more than they could chew. Go look up The Precursors or Xenus 2 (both made by the same dev) for some pretty perfect examples.

I never played them as released. I installed the "Complete" mods right off. As I said a lot of those issues were taken care of. One still might not like the eastern European style but that's mostly personal preference.

Hammerhead Shark
Nah, I doubt they will screw it up. Unless you're one of the minorities that thinks they screwed up the Fallout series. I remember when Fallout 3 first came out, I would browse the No Mutants Allowed forums for a good laugh.
