What happened to SharkyExtreme
Alex,
Just wanted to say sharky has basically been the first page I have gone to basically everyday in the past 2 years. Me and my friend found your site about 2 years ago and we've been coming here for your great reviews ever since. Thanks heaps and it'd be great if the Sharky tradition would continue on. It's a shame about what happened to the site, but still want things to keep going.
keep up the absolutley fantastic work for you and all your team.

Alex Ross aka Sharky and his staff have moved onto other opportunities. The Sharky site will still be here and still be as good as before. Now a different cast of characters will emerge as your fearless leaders.

New articles seem very cnet-ish. The clean your windows one esp. CNet is another site I used to go to daily (like 4 years ago) but stopped going to affter its character changed.

Ok, I'll bite, what kind of articles are more Sharky and less c/net'y?

How much time would they require? I could give them a month or would a year or decade be better?

If you were running a company, and suddenly took in a host of new writers, management, editors, reviewers, etc...how long would it take YOU to get a site up and running again? A month? Could you do that in a month, with the reduced staff they've got on board now, mostly people new to SE...do you think you can wait for only a month and expect them to producing articles just like the old days?
Give them TIME. As much time as they need...if you don't like their site now, then don't read the articles. When they're back to pumping out 6 articles a day, then come back and read them and see if any of them are worth your while reading. When they ARE, come back to SE...simple. Take what benefits you, and leave the rest behind. Arguing about how long they need to get back on their feet is kind of pointless...and most of you guys started screaming about sharky going bad as SOON as the Shark said he was leaving...not exactly giving the new guys a fair chance, are you?
Let them work. When they make a deliberate statement on where they want their site to go, and what they want SE to become, then attack them if you want to. Until then, they're just playing catchup anyway, so leave them be and let them get on with it.
I agree totally about the problems the new site's got right now...ESP the articles they're writing. They seem to be either shabbily done or meant for an entirely new audience, though neither explanation completely justifies the articles they've been writing, if you ask me. But there's a difference between saying that constructively and bashing sharky...this forum is more for constructive criticism than for wanton flaming.
