433 Slot 1 Celeron & Abit Be6-2
This is my brothers old and only system. I was just currios if anyone out here could step me in the right direction for clocking this system?
I have not got my hands on his system yet. But just wanted to be ready to apply any tricks needed, like volt ranges or programs ect...
He is poor with 3 kids so most of the high to mid range stuff it out...
I was just going to up his buss from 66 to whatever worked. And add some cheap radioshack grease, plus a few case fans.
Just not sure what this cpu can do stable and safe...

ok? So no one has ever overclocked with this combo?

Sorry, didn't see the thread before now....
ANYWAY: I assume you use the stock cooler. With that I'd expect to hit between 83 and 85MHz FSB. Only thing you have to do is to increase the FSB to 83, set the PCI-divider to 1/2 (keep in mind that this setting will give you a PCI speed of 41,5 which is pretty high and might damage old or cheap HDs). Setting the PCI divider to 1/3 gives you a PCI speed of 27,4 which is a litle bit too low. Try both settings abd see what works best.
I would say that the core of the Celeron I max out at about 600, so anything between 550 and 600 is good. About voltages, I'd say you're safe up to 2,2V.
Hope this helps.

Thanks.. Going to try this out. Not sure what his harddrive is yet. Might be a good drive? I would hate to kill it... Would the slower setting make it worthless to even overclock it?

You mean the slower setting for the PCI? It would decrease HD performance a bit. What you could also di is to use the 1/2 setting on the PCI and play around with the PIO modes a bit. This will ease the stress on the HD when using high PCI-speeds.

Major crap-0-la!
No luck so far man...I tried it all but guess what? It's at BX6 2.0!
And it well not let me tone the pci down. I got [email protected] to load windows but it soon crashes. I moves my sdram to another slot to get that far even. So I'm at a loss..
I uped the volts and add fans..But something is killing it?
I can't tell if it's the cpu or one of the system part.
I think one of his cards does not like the higher settings. So it's either kill a card or find a way to get 1/3 pci divider. It does not let me choose this. It's set somehow.
I know there is an Softfsb program..But thats not the problem.
So I guess I need a program to set the pci to 1/3? Is there one?

what kind of ram do you have?thats strang your pci buss wont handle a slight increase such as that.

There is an isa scsi card for the zipdrive..Hmmm
The brand of sdram is unkown..I got it from krex.com
It's set to cas2 but it's pc-100. This should not be a problem till after 100 fsb?
I need something to tone down the 1/2 to 1/3 divider at 83fsb.
