    Post which is faster p3 800e or p3 800eb?????

As I understand it, a P3 800e which runs at a 100Mhz FSB obviously has more overclocability potential than the 800eb that is already running at 133Mhz FSB.

Therefore, wouldn't it be better to get the 800e rather than the 800eb and overclock the hell out of the 800e.

Am I right in saying that the 800e could most likely be overclocked past 1Ghz, but the 800eb is unlikely to get to 1Ghz?

Another question, assuming there were two identical systems apart from one had the p3 800e and the other the P3 800eb, theoretically, the 800eb should be faster, but is it in reality? Has anyone benchtested these combinations.

For example, what would the 3D Mark 2000 score be for the 800e and the 800eb?

    Thanks

The 800e would be the choice if you are interested in overclocking, either now or in the future; however, overclocking is never a given!

Yes, theoretically, the 800eb should be faster with its 133mhz bus... though I doubt one would really notice a real-world difference between the two, regardless of benchmarks.

I would just get the 800e, so that I could feel like I have future options even if I never use them.

I have actually had both in my computer (EB is in right now). I have a Tyan Trinity 400 mobo which has both a Slot 1 and a Socket 370. I ordered a PIII 800E FC to upgrade my PIII 500, but they sent a Slot 1 instead. I was able to get the Slot 1 for the same price as the FC (about a $100 Canadian less). I knew my friend was going to order a PIII 800E Slot 1 so I got him to order the FC and we where going to trade. When it came it was a FC this time, but also a EB (can't suppliers get anything right?). Since my board could support it a took it.

Now to what you want to know, with out changing anything other than CPU's I gained 200 3DMarks, and 5 to 10 FPS in Q3A.

    System specs (at the time):
    PIII 800EB
    Tyan Trinity 400
    Voodoo5 5500 AGP
    256MB CAS2 PC100 RAM (now it's PC133)
