Post Who's running their PC 133 RAM at 150 mhz?

Hi, I'm waiting on a SOYO VIA Pro Mobo and eager to test out the 150 FSB to see what it will do for my PIII 700 (currently on Abit BH6 running at 127 FSB at stock 1.7V)

Question: The Soyo gives me the option to run the memory at either true FSB speed or plus or minus 33 mhz of the FSB.

Is it pretty safe to try and run my memory (PC 133 Micron Cas 2) at 150 Mhz? Or should I just run it at the 117 mhz setting (150=33)?

Who else is running CAS 2 PC133 at 150? And are you able to maintain it's CAS 2 rating?

I know I should just wait and see for myself but I'm eager to know and thought I'd ask.

I heard Mushkin REV3 is the best OC memory so far easily @ 150

I saw some test on it.
I wouldn't think it's safe cuz it' s right at the edge of crashin'.

HEY don't try dont know right?
GO for it u big OC

The only bad thing I've ever suffered from pushing the memory too hard was a registry corruption that was too far gone to repair. Hey, I had to reformat and reinstall, no big deal for me. I've never, nor have I ever heard of anyone physically damaging RAM by overclocking. As far as which is better, go for the 150MHz.

I'm only running mine at 125MHz now because that's what I need to maintain 167MHz FSB but I have and can run completely stable with FSB and memory at 155MHz with memory at 2-2-2.

I've seen a guy who had one stick of generic 100mhz cas3, one stick of generic 133mhz cas3 and one stick of 64mb generic 100mhz ca3 fry 2 of his ram sticks (both the 128mb's) and his mobo (MSI Pro2a) when he tried the FSB from 100 straight to 122 and from cas3 strahgt to cas2. his northbridge fried and some of the gold plates on the pins of the ram had actually come off.

Now he has 2 sticks of 128mb 133mhz cas3. Happily doing 100mhz at cas 2.

My mosel sticks are called pc133 even though with 7ns memory the maybe should be called pc143. Anyway, I too am at 150+ 155 to be exact. BTW, that's 2-2-2 of course.

My Crucial (a division of Micron) PC133 CAS2 RAM will almost do 150 MHz CAS2 -- it'll do it but it turns out to be unstable. I haven't tested exactly how fast it will do and maintain stability, but I'm guessing 150 MHz won't be a problem at CAS3.

I do plan to do more stability testing at CAS3 to see just how fast the RAM can go, and if it's the RAM or FSB that's holding me back from higher FSB/RAM speeds. If it's the RAM, I might shell out for some RAM with 6ns chips and see how far I can push my FSB

I got my fsb (and mem for that matter) to 150 mHz too. It's micron CAS2 PC133 7.5ns and I ran it with full speed optimisations (turbo, etc...). Only my now crappy vid card couldn't take it. It arctifacted in 3D Mark 2000.

So cruical ram will make it to almost 150 most of the time, how much faster is the Mushkin stuff, and could you overclock your any faster as a result or is it just for the sake of stablity. Damn I need to get into the OC stuff, Im bored

Well mine cant go QUITE that fast but they are both PC-100 CAS2, and they have ran at 140 CAS2 and are VERY stable, one is a Siemen 64 stick and the other is a Kingston 64 stick.....well I thought maybe I could join in on this forums but it seems my slow RAM cant cut it

First of all Muskin rev2 is Mosel Vitelic based. Its essentially the same as the sticks carried by KDComputers and Memman.
Rev3 is Infineon based and guaranteed at 150 cas222. However, even though you get a guaranted 150, I know almost no one over 160 and most don't get past 155. Rev3 uses 7.5ns. I am told soon there will be a 7ns version but its not out yet. Whereas the rev2 [Mosel] uses 7ns. This should essentially guarantee 143 and I have yet to find anyone who cannot run Mosel at at least 143. As aforementioned my Mosel pumps out 155 and is cheaper than Mushkin rev3.
