Post Sound Blaster Live with a Hiss

I have a sound blaster live value in my athlon 700 system. I have the sound card hooked to my home stereo(EST retail value $1000), so I know the problem isn't my stereo. Any suggestion on fixing the problem?

See what happens if you mute all the devices you are not using(cdrom volume, line in volume...etc.) Hope this helps.

I BET IT'S A CD-ROM. 99.9% sure that you have your cd-rom connected via analog cable to your soundcard. Disconnect the analog (or mute it) and connect digital cable (2 wire) sounds much better and no hiss. If that doesn't help get a better power supplie with better filters.

I don't know if this actually helps any, but I like to run either Winamp or Freeamp through AutoEA software that comes with SBLive. I think that it sounds better, but it might not help. If you are playing MP3's through the stereo, get 192kps encoded MP3s. It makes a big difference to me. I don't use any 128kps encoded mp3s anymore.
