AC97 codec and Rainbow Six issues

I finally got a dual-boot working on my rig - 98SE and Win2K. I have all my apps and personal stuff on 2K, all my games on 98SE, simply because the games'll actually work in 98SE. I have all my drivers installed correctly, everything's working... only issue is, when I try to boot up any version of Rainbow Six, it gives the error "Cannot create a DirectSound device; try rebooting your machine or reinstalling etc etc".

I'm not that familiar with the different audio controllers, does my onboard audio not support DirectSound?

Any suggestions?
