Morpheus vs. Kazaa
Are they really the same?

They are the EXACT same interface, as for users I ASSUME they share the same userbase, but I could be wrong...

I've tried Kazaa. It works ok, but when I'm not using it it seems to still run as a process and I can't kill it. Anybody know how? I was going to download Morpheus to replace kazaa, but if it's the exact same thing it more than likely has the exact same problems.

KaZaA has several sypware components that always run in the background. To stop the processes you simply uninstall KaZaA and the infested spyware. Morpheus does not have the spyware components as yet.

Kazza limits it's scans for MP3 files to 128Kbit and lower. Morpheous has no similar limitation.
As for how to close it? Right-click the icon on the task bar a select 'close'.. seems to do the trick..

When I installed Kazaa, I chose not to install the spyware. Of course that could be just to placate the user and they could have installed it anyway. And I did have the Kazaa icon in the systray closed, but the process was still running, I'm assuming for the spyware to run. I think I'll be switching over to Morpheus now...

Well I got rid of Kazaa, and downloaded Morpheus. Morpheus, however, apparently scanned my whole fuking hard drive and has shared everything. I can't seem to have files simply not shown in my media. This fuking sucks b/c I have proprietary shhit on here that Morpehus shouldn't even be looking at. In my opinion BOTH of these programs suck diick, but at least Kazaa didn't have every single fuking thing shared.

I've never had that issue with Morpheus, but you can simply click on "Tools" then select "Find Media to Share...". On the "Select" tab you click on "Folder List" and check or uncheck your share preferences.

And wouldn't it be nice if that actually worked? :P NOTHING is checked, yet I still have everything under the sun shared. BTW I'm on a Win2k system. Think that might be a problem?

Shouldn't be, the rack I'm on now is W2K with Morpheus 1.3. My WinXP and WinME racks also runs fine without that issue. The only options I can think of is reinstalling, disabling file sharing or remove the folders you don't want shared in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Morpheus\Local\Content.
Editing the Registry can cause problems so you should back it up before you attempt to make changes.

Hmmmmm. I had uninstalled it and then re-installed it and it still did the same thing. I then uninstalled it again. Today I deleted every key in the registry relating to Morpheus as well. I installed it once more and now everything is working fine. Weird, huh? I was sharing all sorts of weird files and lots of proprietary shiit. I really DIDN'T want to share stuff that hopefully might get me a patent, right?

I like to preview my downloads sometimes before it is complete to make sure it's what I want. Limewire does not offer that. Also too much activity on my net stat indicators even when there is no active uploads or downloads.

Hey dude, watch out what you say! It just take a simple editing of your options to get it to share only the folder you choose too or not share anything at all.
