Heh, you should ditch that powersupply for an Antec 400W. The overall wattage means jack sh*t, look at the combined power.

The Antec is a much better PS for his AMD.

Anyways, you know he is paying 8,000$ for a system that wont be much faster than your average 2500$ tower o' power?

And...all that money on a system and he is getting a Viewsonic flat panel?

Out of curiousity... if this is for office use, and for CAD... why would he want 4.1 surround? I realize that would be great on a gaming machine, but this is for CAD and how loud can he really turn it up anyway in the office?

One thing that was a waste of money are the HD's. My Maxtor Atlas 10K III 74.3 GB SCSI HD at 10,000 cost only around 400 a piece.

At least convince him to get a 21" Sony CRT and a DVD-ROM drive

I don't think he'd want to be stuck at one resolution with that LCD Monitor

8 grand is nothing if this machine is his primary cad station. He probably is an engineer and makes his living with this machine.

But, screw the LCD. Get a Sony FW900. Lets push that baby up to 10 grand.

Talk about going over board You do realise that one card can support 30 devices (15 per channel) and that you could put all 4 hard drives on the channel and still not lose performance, SCSI is not like IDE. What he should do is use RAID 5 (that controller supports it) with the 4 drives, that way he will have a real fast setup with fault tolerance.
