Post Something smells fishy, do you think this is a rip off waiting to happen?

I've been shopping around recently for my big computer purchase in about a couple of months. I'm getting a silver Alienware case with everthing else black, including the monitor. I've been seeking a 19" flat screen and had my choices narrowed down to the NEC Multisync FE950+ Blk and the IBM P96 trinitron stealth black (BTW, any input on both of these monitors would be appreciated). I haven't seen either monitors in action but from a spec standpoint, the IBM is clearly the superior of the two. The only problem is that it retails for a hefty $575. Until recently, I haven't been able to find it for that much cheaper (usually between $525-550) Now I see this IBM selling for $419 at urban-computers.com. To me, this seems almost too good to be true. My question is this, is this just a really good deal that I should jump all over or is it a rip off from a shady online retailer waiting to happen?

Wow, that retailer is very close to me (downtown Chicago). I checked them up on www.resellerratings.com and the place only had one review and it was a 3/7 which ain't too good, but you never know. I also checked their site and they gave addresses and telephone numbers so I would give it a shot, because you have the numbers. If all else fails, I could just drive down there for you. Good luck.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I also live in Chicago. Maybe I should contact the BBB for more info on this company. I also wonder if places like these let you pick up in order to avoid shipping charges.

Okay if you live near the place run down there and check them out. Also, look at the monitor there before you buy it (if you're buying it), make sure it's new and not a demo unit, and MAKE SURE YOU READ AND UNDERSTAND THEIR RETURN POLICY. If you do that you should be good to go.

I just sent them an email covering all those questions. I think your idea of going down there and checking them out is the safest bet.
