    Problems with new heatsink/fan

    Hello,

I used to have a Silent Boost A1889 in both of my computers.

One computer has an AMD Athlon XP 1800+ with an Asus A7N266-VM mobo and is not exactly a power PC.
The other one has an AMD Athlon XP 3000+ along with an Asus A7N8X Deluxe mobo and is my gaming PC.
I wanted quiet computers so both are running in Antec Sonata cases.
The Athlon 1800 computer uses the integrated video card while the Athlon 3000 uses a Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro Ultimate (uses heatpipes for cooling, no fan on the card).
I loved how quiet both computers were, you could just hear them humming...very peaceful when both are in the same room!!

Thermaltake came out with a new version of the Silent Boost, the Silent Boost RX K7, and according to its specs it was supposed to be even quieter.

I was tempted to push my luck even further so...I ordered two of these guys and had a local computer store install them with some Artic Silver.

The problem is...both computers sound louder!
The fan speed for the new Silent Boost is 2200 rpm but in both computers they are running at 2800-2900 rpm.
CPU temperatures are lower than the previous Silent Boost but personally I'd rather have it a couple of degrees higher (I don't overclock at all) in order to have peace and quiet.
I run no overclocking software, I looked in the BIOS and could find no indications the computers were being overclocked.
I wouldn't say it is loud but they are definitely louder than the old one.
And I am concerned about how fast the cpu fan runs...when I play games the Asus PC Probe or BIOS says it is running at almost 3000 rpm.
I checked the connecters and they are plugging into the correct cpu fan plug.

Anyone have any experience with the new Silent Boost?
Are they really supposed to run that fast?
Anyone have any explanation for my problem on both computers?
