ZOMG! 67 inches of gaming goodness!
Well even though I thought my dad was going to be investing into a 100" 1080p projector, but this weekend I was in for quite a surprise. I'm sitting in my room playing Counterstrike and waiting for my brother to wake up at his normal 12-1PM waking time so we can go to the pool when he busts into my room and says "Did you know dad is buying an HDTV?"
So I'm like "yea, a projector right?" "No, some TV! From Costco!" And I'm like pfft Costco, ***. My dad is a huge audiophile and figure that if he's buying from Costco he obviously didn't research this television very much. So he was on his way upstairs and I asked him what TV he was getting. He pointed me towards the website: http://www.samsung.com/Products/TV/D...Specifications 67" ****! That's crazy... so he said "yea I was going to pick it up today but it won't fit in the back of the Pilot." So my bro and I left to talk to my girlfriend whose Dad has a huge *** truck we'd be able to use. Of course after we talk to her it turns out her parents were up at their lakehouse and the truck was up there as well. To my surprise the dickhead manager where my g/f works (and totally despises us) told me I could use his. So we did, met up with my dad, walked into Costco and he knew exactly where it was (as if he had scouted the place out already from afar with his binoculars). We threw it on a cart and took it outside and hoisted it up and we were on our way! First impressions: Even before this thing had gotten out of the box, it easily dwarfed the TV we already had in the basement which was about 42". To my surprise the Samsung didn't weight that much... in fact it felt as though the stand that came with it weighed more than the TV, which is probably a good thing. My dad recently had back surgery so he can't kneel down/bend over to pick anything up off the ground so he obviously couldn't lift/remove old TV/pick up new one so I told him that I'd be home later to help him (it was good weather and my g/f is a lifeguard at a pool). So after I received my awesome sunburn I headed back home and to my surprise they somehow already had it out and set up... my younger brother and my dad were trying to figure out how to get the satellite to work on one input while at the same time getting AIR on another but setting up the satellite box to be able to display onto another TV in the basement (one is in the main basement, another in the workout room... so if you select a channel off satellite on the main TV there is a way to have it displayed to the TV in the exercise room). I let the two of them figure it out and I waited patiently and got my 360 out and plugged it in. Finally we were able to press the power button... and VOILA! THIS TV IS EFFIN HUGE. Granted a 100" projection would have been amazing, but this will certainly do. It's like we just went from a Honda Civic to a 911 Porsche. It is MASSIVE. My youngest brother came downstairs and was like "wow it takes up the whole room!" The colors look nice and crisp and BRIGHT and ultra SHARP. Gears looked amazing. I now have to replay the entire campaign just to play it in HD (and find the last two COG tags). It's almost like my character on the screen is life size now. It's that big. The weird thing that I've noticed, as well as my brother, is that the controls on the 360 with relation to the screen seem a bit touchier. I think its because we aren't used to this HUGE screen. I almost feel like since its so big, if I want to look left/right, I have to turn further than normal... which isn't true. I'm still moving at the same speed in the same direction whether I'm on the huge HDTV or not, but since its so big I FEEL like I have to... and being Widescreen is new to me as well. I'm sure I'll get adjusted to this after some gaming sessions... but now thats its the weekday its back to work ![]() Going from SDTV to HDTV is like night and day with the graphics and visualizations from the 360. And going from a 40incher to 67 is like David v. Goliath. I posted this is Gamging because I think my gaming is about to change... I've been sitting on quite a few 360 games because I don't have much time to play them or that great of a TV to play them on either. This is fantastic! I also posted here because I would like to be able to post some pictures and show you guys! Agenda: GoW, R6:V... and then off to whatever I friggin want! Bioshock will look AMAZING. I can't wait!

That is amazing. I remember the first time we set up the 56" DLP, I was stunned. I can't imagine a 67"!

Walking downstairs was... just awesome. I mean heading down the stairs you could already SMELL the TV. It had that "new car" smell except it wasn't all leathery like cars are.... it smelled like ozone. It's that smell you get when you blast your music and your subs and you have them going for so long and so loud that the electrical components heat up and produce this crazy smell...
I was like OH SNAP. It's HERE!

If memory serves me right, the box said ~120lbs... but that couldn't have been right because my brother and I lifted it easily. It's not quite a flatscreen, but damn... who cares.

My father just replaced their CRT RP HDTV last month with one of the new Samsung LCD DLP sets and I was pretty amazed. They make great sets and the menu system is pretty good. Is the set your father purchased LCD backlit or still with a bulb?
