6800NU still has life!

Picked up a generic 6800NU pci-e 256MB off Anandtech for sale forums for $45 shipped. Just wanted to play with it, it had HDR and my X850XT didn't even though I knew it wasn't as fast.

Flashed the bios to mod the gpu voltage to 1.4v from the stock 1.2v.

Proceeded to clock it up to 440/825 from the stock 325/600. Cleaned the stock cooler and added silver thermal paste.

70c under full load, hit 5300 in 3DMark 05 on a A64 @ 2800Mhz. Not too far behind my X850XT which hit 6300 overclocked. Played GRAW2 pretty good, had to drop the resolution from 1184 x 862 (X850XT) to 1024 x 768 all details at max.

Not breaking any records, but it did play the game smoothly and HDR looks great in that game.

Cool, I'll pass this on to my bro. He has a BFG 6800 that could use a little boost.

I miss the old days, I so enjoyed playing around with the BIOS on my 5900.

LOL! Real killjoy, ain't he?

Anyway, I sold my friend my old rig - S754 A64 3400+ Claw/1GB KVR (BH5)/MSI 6800U - and he's happy with it. Runs s all the games he plays @1024x768 (res of his monitor), max detail, 2xAA/4xAF. But then, he ain't playing very graphically demanding games, most demanding being D3 which the 6800U can handle easily.
