Man, I've lost three of my rigs in three months. Two from corporate treachery and one from a dead hard drive.

I'm down to only two rigs now.

...and I'm off the bandwagon. F@H caused my computer to crash on boot up everytime and when it went into screensaver mode my monitor shut off. Boo.

Well if you're OC'ed, your rig might not be stable. Try backing off a tad and trying again

yep...i see you're running your 2500+ at 3200+ speeds on default voltage. try upping the voltage just a tad and/or run prime95 to check for stability at that speed and voltage as well.

also, what version of the F@H client were you using? some people have had troubles with the 5.03 client crashing their systems. I've had no troubles thus far though...

Wow today is a good day for me (lots of people right their final papers). #2 now, though next month I likely will drop down in production, we will see.

Yes, there does seem to be a problem with 5.03, in my case as well. I have F@H running on a stock 2.53 ghz and I notice how many things freeze and the computer opens explorer/programs windows MUCH slower. This didn't happen with older versions. This costs slower production since the owner turns it off whenever working in the windows environment. It's only running when it's not be usind(evening and morning).

I just joined sharky's team too!

because of HT, F@H only used 50% of CPU so i got Prime95 running on the other 50. No crashes for the past 12 hours. I'm gonna push the FBS a couple MHz more to see if it will handle it

this is awsome for stability testing. Have another puter at home so will be setting that up also

    Welcome to the Team.

How about running another instance of F@H with the other 50% of you processing power?

Running two instances on a HT CPU only gives about 15% increase - but it's still something.

This thread gives you a little background to the thread you posted.

    http://forum.folding-community.org/v...ic.php?t=10168

My only comment is running my two 3.0GHz with two consoles each will send 6 WU's before my Celeron 900MHz can do one. Sure seems to me with the logic of doing my part for "science" and not being concerned of "point's" I should probably shut my celeron down before switching to one console per P4.

    From the thread:

    ------------------------------------
    Professor Vijay S. Pande, PhD
Director, Folding@Home Distributed Computing Project, and
Assistant Professor of Chemistry and of Structural Biology, Stanford University

"I'm really surprised to see a response like this. I don't think I'm doing enough to explain the situation and I apologize for this.

To us, this isn't about kids wanting presents 6 months early. This is about important research having an impact on truly horrible diseases like Alzheimer's. FAH isn't fun and games to us and to others -- this is real life, real people, real suffering.

I agree with you totally that the process is important and we are doing everything to make our end goal most optimized to help addressing the diseases we're working on. This end goal includes points and the donator's concerns (hence our presence in this form).

I will do everything in my power to make FAH the most effective tool in research possible. That means respecting donator's contributions and concerns and balancing that with what's best for the science. I don't think anyone would have us do it any other way.

Finally, I think the HT issue has been blown out of proportion and it's probably a good time to move on. I agree that there are much worse things that people are doing and my team is still exploring the best ways to optimize FAH, keeping donors concerns paramount. For the forseeable future, no changes are planned.

To summarize, donators concerns are paramount, but happy donators with worthless science is not the way FAH will work. The goal is happy donators and great science. Hopefully we can all work together towards this goal."
