Last month I received many replies to people who wished to trade their retail 1400 thunderbirds for my 1600XP+ processor. My 8kta3 mobo could only operate the xp at 1050mhz instead of 1400mhz on its kt133a chipset. One member of Sharky forum who goes by the name of "Killer1nstinct," emailed me and phoned me up about the trade. He sounded genuine and I saw that he had hundreds of posts around the forum with honest questions and helpful suggestions to troubled users.
In good faith, I agreed and sent my xp processor, while he was to send his thunderbird. Days went by and I sent emails to him and received no reply until I offered to criminally investigate into fraud on his part. He replied with several excuses and an apology. He stated that he would not need my processor and would send back it to me. Since I shipped it Express, he received my processor on December 24th. It is now January 22nd and I have received nothing in return. He does not reply to my emails and his phone number does not permit me to reach him. He has new posts on the forums weekly as well as his personal web page. So what is with this? Forums have enabled thousands of honest people to interact with others around the world who have similar interests and ideas. This sort of interaction was once limited to simple local community clubs. If there is no real legal way of charging dishonest members such as "Killer1nstinct", they should be steps to kick them off forums if information is available that can concretely display their dishonesty. I think we as a group on this forum, should also find a safe method of doing trades with other members without the stress of perhaps sending money or products and getting nothing in return. I was the stupid one who sent the product, what about the others on the net who perhaps are not sending the product, but the money instead. This sort of abuse has to stop! It is a real shame that if you trust someone you are labelled a sucker when he blatently rips you off.... If I do receive my processor, I will mention it in this forum, but at this time I am short of a retail XP processor that I invested nearly $300 canadian. Feel free to contact me for more information, I have nothing to hide. Best of luck in your trades, Joe " jcimmarrusti@hotmail.com " ------------------ The Muffin Man\ epox 8kta3 512 cas two micron ram panasync sl 19" monitor brother hl-1660 laser epson photo 700 cd-writer plus 8200 series 60" gig IBM7200 hollywood plus dvd decoder hitachi dvd 4x [This message has been edited by joecmma (edited January 22, 2002).]

If you can't get this worked out, let the Troll Hunters know about it as well. Have you notified the authorities?

I am hoping that this individual will be honest and return my product before I contact any authorities. But I tell ya, I am bummed out, not only about the bum deal, but about the fact that I really thought that most of the people on this forum are honest people to deal with.

Have you dealt with anyone else online before? I always check for Heatware ratings before I buy/sell to someone..if they pay/ship first, it's not much of an issue. But if I cross-ship, I need to be confident that I'll get what I'm supposed to. Getting me to pay first (money order, that is - paypal isn't much of a problem if you have a decent rating) is quite an accomplishment, unless you have TONS of heat ratings and a really good reputation..heh

I have done a couple of dealing on Ebay, but otherwise no.
Since I am no millionaire, I will not make this mistake again. It still is too bad that you can't trust anyone.... ------------------ The Muffin Man\ epox 8kta3 512 cas two micron ram panasync sl 19" monitor brother hl-1660 laser epson photo 700 cd-writer plus 8200 series 60" gig IBM7200 hollywood plus dvd decoder hitachi dvd 4x

Take a look at my heat rating - I just made a couple more deals, so I'll have a couple more ratings. That'll make 26 or so..and there are some who have way over 100. I would not hesitate to deal with them. ------------------ System specs Heatware CadetLee: A walking commercial for AMD, Lite-On, PowerVR, and Newegg.

www.heatware.com and www.beerology.com/ars/
The trollhunters may guide you on which steps to take, which legal authorities to contact, etc. I think you can find them by searching for "trollhunters" on the anandtech forums. ------------------ 100/0 Heatware

His name:
He is an administrator at www.silent-chaos.com I have removed his personal info, due to privacy, but his user name is listed in an article above. If you really need more info you can email me directly at: jcimmarrusti@hotmail.com This is what is so confusing. Most scammers are hidden and are do not expose themselves like this individual has. But, it is over 4 weeks, I have no product and he has put zero effort to respond, but he ads comments to his own site everyday and is always on sharkys... I have his phone number that worked for me twice as well... I will get onto www.heatware.com, thanks, Cheers, Joe ------------------ The Muffin Man\ epox 8kta3 512 cas two micron ram panasync sl 19" monitor brother hl-1660 laser epson photo 700 cd-writer plus 8200 series 60" gig IBM7200 hollywood plus dvd decoder hitachi dvd 4x [This message has been edited by joecmma (edited January 23, 2002).] [This message has been edited by joecmma (edited January 23, 2002).]

Thanks for your help
It's really appreciated, I have been quite burned up about this individual for several weeks now. People who do this activity, may as well be going into your house and just stealing it from there.... Cheers, Joe Quote:

Housen doesn't approve of posting people's personal info, even if they are trolls. If he is still posting here, contact housen or cataylst, and I'm sure they can probably help you out in tracking him. The nerve of that guy, to still hang around here..
