3D game engine
i need some help/advices about this stuff.Im kinda new in this 3d game building stuff, but i have the basic knolledge. So,if any1 can point me to a free 3d game engine, please add some links. What I have in mind its an true 6 degrees of freedom whit scripting support capable engine wich i will use for an upcoming project -level/demo-atm of an action&rpg based on SW world.
I runned some search of my own and descovered some cool engines, but maybe sum1 of U pplz inhere could point me better. So far,the best i've descovered is located here :http://crystal.linuxgames.com/,but is kinda in incipient fase,so i've surely use some more evolved project.I would appreciate any help,10Q

genesis 3d may be a bit to your liking it supported mirrors way before the quake3 engine......its very well known and supported, looks great and has been around for a long time.......the crystal space is a nice engine as well......but really your best bet is to do a bit of searching there are literally thousands of engines out there and are all very good.

Check this out.
Its a bit out of date, but has more 3D engines than you can shake a stick at. Most of them are useless though

I can do my own 3d engine and are working on one, but I don't know where to find any free ones with the requirement mentioned above. I'd ask for one in the forums over at www.opengl.org
But I can supply useful stuff such as texture loading functions if someone ask me for it.

Hey, might want to check out www.flipcode.com They have a lot off good programming information over there along with some good engine information.

If you want to see how the big boys do it, id software open-sourced the Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Quake 1 engines. I think they are all available from www.idsoftware.com.

Wolfenstein 3d and doom doesn't really fulfill those requirements. And they are based on raytracing which is an obsolete realtime rendering technique (but useful for time independent professional rendering applications) and cannot be combined with hardware support.

Mr. Q,
the Duke Nukem build editor is a good one, though it's pretty arcane, but it works. If you find of one like Silverman's build editor that' windows driven please let me know.
I could build a general Duke Nukem level with the build editor in three weeks.
3D shooters are fun!
Good luck!
