philips 107t flat screen 17 inch vs sony cpd200es multiscan 17 inch

i 'upgraded' my monitor from a 17 inch sony trinitron multiscan cpd 200es to a flat screen 17 inch philips 107t. there was a special at staples, buy over $200 and you get a $50 discount instantly. the monitor also had a $50 mail in rebate. total cost of the monitor was 199.98 so i bought a pack of gum to make it over 200. got -50 and sent in the 50 dollar mail in rebate!

so i paid half price for the monitor. not including tax!!

should i have stuck with the sony? it still is good but about 3 years old. its almost flat too, but not a flat screen. i couldnt resist the deal. it has this feature called lightframe... makes images and movies brighter like TV.

you got a good deal and the philips monitor should be just fine, but i know a lot of people will argue that sony is the best for monitors (ANY sony monitor)

hey i took your advice and decided to keep my sony trinitron. bought a radeon 32 sdr for 50 bucks as my second video card and set up the dual display.

its really nice to have two screens. more real estate.

first monitor has the radeon 8500 le 128.

what programs do you use to manage both displays?

this is and OLD card, remember, 4-5 years ago, having a 1 meg card was normal
just like saying having a 32meg right now

i also had a 1 meg triton card, it was 6-7 years old and (still using) a 5 year monitor
that's why i only use this second card for text (IRC, MSN)

EDIT: where did i get it? when i worked in a computer lab in my past university. this card didn't want to work so i asked my boss if he was going to throw it away and so i asked him if i could keep it instead

i testet it on 3 machines at school and none worked but when tested in my machine it did work
