Need help: FileMaker, Word and Mail merge woes...
Hello all,
Amongst other things, I handle chargebacks for the company I work for. All of our customer records are stored in FileMaker, and I prepare the chargeback responses using Word 2000 and Mail Merge capabilities. It works okay, but for every chargeback response I need to manually copy all of the customer data out of the FileMaker client software we use. It's pretty tedious, and a big waste of time.
Ultimately, I would like to be able to specify a couple simple variables (like order #, CC# and charge authorization #) and have the rest of the info automatically pulled from FileMaker and filled into my Mail Merge (such as address, shipping date, charge, etc.).
I found this article describing the process. I also know that records can be exported from FileMaker in a number of ways, and I'm wondering if perhaps there is an easier or faster way of doing the same thing by automatically exporting records instead of querying the FileMaker DB.
I would like to use EZxslt because it sounds like just what I need, but unfortunately we do not have FM v6.
Does anyone have any experience with doing this, or could recommend some methods or ideas that might help me make the process a little easier?
TIA for the help
