Question Need help with mouse mod

Been a while guys, mainly cause my PC is running pretty sweet and I havnt had much time on my hands.

Anyway, after looking through some old stuff of mine, Ive found a very old Microsoft Ball mouse.

    Picture below:

The mouse has a brillant shape it just isnt optical. I wasnt thinking of trying to mod it and make it optical, although I have never heard of anyone doing this with this particular mouse before.

Anyone have any idea what sort of optical sensor I could use for to mod this mouse, since it is quite a funny shape inside.

Any links would help as well.

    Cheers

Forget it, its not as simple as chaning the input mechanism, you will have to redo all the circuits. Seeing as how you are in loss on how to do this as it is, i say forget it.
High End Lian Li Case = $180 on Mastercard
High End Coolermaster Case = $180 on mastercard
Debating which computer case is better = Priceless

I'm a Coolermaster Fanboy, are you?

Why will all the circuits have to be redone ?

Wont transporting the circuit board out of MOUSE A into MOUSE B work ?

If not, any information will help, if not ill look else where.

Doesn't sound too hard as the distance from camera to surface in most optical sensors has a wide operating range. Give it a shot
