Painting CD faceplates
I want to use vinyle die. Is there anything that would give for a better finish than it? Also how many coats should I give it? Is it as easy as I think to do? Just pop off the faceplate. Paint one coat, let dry, then paint another, then let dry, and repeat process acouple more times. Is that how you do it?

I used regular lacqueur spray paint on mine. About 4 (maybe 6) really light coats. Finish is smooth and pretty, but not SMOOTH (it's the same texture as it was unpainted).
I'm happy with it.

i've used krylon fusion and paint, and fusion is a lot easier
it only took me like 1 thick coat, and it was good to go

Not sure about the dye but for painting thats about it. Paint let dry lightly sand repeat a few times for desired effect.

So if not dye, then what?

Use any paint, really. I used any old automotive paint on my DVD drive and it came out just fine, and had the pre-paint bumps too.
Only sprayed like 2 light-ish coats. No clearcoat.

I guess I'll just get some black paint out of the garage. Should I clearcoat it?

not necessary, but go for it if you want.

I think I am gonna go with the vinyl die. I saw some results from another guy who used vinyl die and it turned out great.

Someone a while back used vinyl dye and I remember it turning out excellent. Yours should look nice as well. Did you get the silver or black version of the case? You did get the PC-60 right?

I got the pc61 black version. I like the silver version but I liked the black even more.
The main difference between the pc60 and 61 is that on the pc60 there is carbon fiber surrounding the power button. Some liked it, some didn't. I didn't so I got the pc61. Also the pc61 is the newer one.

I actually ordered the PC-60 tonight. I checked though, and the newer ones don't have that ugly thing around the power button. It's the same thing as the PC-61 only in silver. I also got some of those universal CD-ROM and floppy covers

Let me know if those covers turn out fine. I know they are universal but I still was unsure if I should have gotten them or not.
I used a screwdriver to knock the clips in on the faceplates but the thing still won't come off. Any ideas?
