Anything better than the Onkyo HTS-770's?
My budget is $500 max for home theater speakers, and I just noticed the HTS-770s are on sale for $399 at circuitcity.com
I also noticed the HTS-780s were also on sale for like $425 I believe.
The 770's pump out more wattage, and i haven't read much about the 780's. I don't really need 7.1, although if they it is a better setup I'd buy it.
So basically can I do any better than the 770's in the sub $500 shipped range, and if not I think i'll buy the 770s before they go back to regular price, because not even newegg has them for $399.

Oh great, I just realized Circuit City is the biggest crap in the world.
They say free shipping on orders of $25 or more excluding TV's, but they won't ship the Onkyo speakers, and in addition to that I added the 3 closest CC's and NONE of them allow for in-store pickup, so basically they have an advertised special thay I CAN NOT! get.
Thats absolute CRAP!
I have NEVER! Seen anything like this. A major reseller advertising something that you can't even buy. It's not that they're going to charge me shipping or a pickup fee - I can't even get it shipped or pick it up.
I'm calling them tommorow and giving them hell about it, and if they don't ship it to me, i'm going to get pissed.

The 770 system is something I looked very hard at but I decided I just had to have an H/K reciever(somebody slap me). The specs on the 770's are good, reviews are good and the sound is great in the store. I don't think you can go wrong with that set up.
My CC can order the item in for you and has told me they can give me the advertised price in store? Maybe if you stop in they can order up a set for you?

Yeah, after giving the 1-800 # a try I might go to a store and see if they can do it for me.

I just got the 770s a month ago. After much looking around they seemed the best system for under 1k. They are very nice for my HT setup. I am no audiophile, but I am very happy with them. I told my GF I was getting speakers. She came in, saw the speakers and was like: Those are huge! I have everything hooked up with the digital cable and the surround in games and dvds is very nice. They are a little big though.
I ended up just getting them instore at CC. They were like 430 bucks or so. Just have someone help you lift it. The box is easily 5 ft tall and about 80lbs. I was going to buy online, but most places the shipping was more than 60 dollars....so it killed any online deals.
