get an external enclosure, put the laptop drive in there, and connect it to a working computer
Corsair 550vx
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3L
C2D e6750 @ 2.66
2 gig ram
Asus Radeon 4850

Exactly what primate said. Stating the obvious but make sure though when you purchase one (should only cost a few bucks from newegg or somewhere) that you get a 2.5" enclosure instead of a 3.5" one. Slide the laptop HDD in and connect to another rig and voila.
Compaq A910em: T2330 dual core 1.6Ghz, X3100 384MB GPU, 160GB sata HDD, 2GB RAM
Gaming rig: Asus Striker II, Coolermaster GX 750w, E4600 @ 2.4Ghz, 2.5GB RAM, Zerotherm FZ 120, 9500GT 1GB

Great White Shark
Or use an adapter to plug it into your desktop might be cheaper alternative.

boot into linux with a ubuntu boot cd
then, just like in windows, access the hdd like you would in windows and transfer to a memory stick or something.
you just need to mount the hdd in linux which is easy enough to do.
