This is a fresh install of XP. I used the drivers download from Epia's website for this motherboard. Even though Device Manager reports that the VIA AC97 audio controller is installed correctly and the speaker appears on the task bar there is no sound. I even tried the latest drivers from Realtek for the AC97 and they don't work either. The computer behaves as if it is playing the sound, but nothing is heard.

Any ideas? This is driving me crazy!
