    Question Mandrake 7.0 vrs Mandrake 7.1

    Does anyone know the differance between

    Linux Mandrake 7.0

    Linux Mandrake 7.1

    I have 7.0 deluxe and want to know if theres alot of diff between the two?

    Hrm I think that Linux Mandrake 7.0 came out just after the big Y2k date rollover. As I remember it was about the same as the last 6.x version with a pretty graphical installer. Essentially they named it 7.0 so they could claim they were the 1st new version of a linux distribution for the millenium or some crap.

    I think that Mandrake 7.1 added Xfree 4, which is a rather significant upgrade especially if you have an Nvidia card. It might be worth checking it out. You don't need 7.1 to get Xfree4, though. Actually they had a nice set of instructions on the mandrake web site on how to install Xfree4 on a machine with version 3.
