    Unhappy GeForce2 totally locks up computer!

    Hi Chris
    We have a nice computer lab with #17 PC.

    The problem:
    System completly locks sometimes (6 times a day) when we just move a window. This happens also in IE5.5 when scrolling and Alias is started.

    Our theory(ies):
    Alias|Wavefronts Studio (that we uses) causes some kind of OpenGL command that
    makes NT4 or Nvidias driver to lock up.

    The graphic driver does something wrong.
    Should we back done from 6.18 to Nvidias 5.16 as Alias recommends (see http://www.aw.sgi.com/pages/home/pag...ias952_nt.html
    )

    We have tried to change some of the settings in Nvidia driver without any success.

    What´s your idea to a solution of this?
    A hint of how to solve this is most appreciated.
    Thank´s in advance

    Our hardware:
    Motherboard Asus A7V
    Graphic card Asus V7700
    CPU AMD 900MHz Thunderbird
    RAM memory 512mb

    Our software:
    NT4 SP6
    Alias|Wavefronts Studio
    IExplorer 5.5
    (NT4 because Alias has qualified it. Otherwise we had used W2K)

    Well,

    One thing that I have noticed always helps with system stability is the VIA driver pack. Make sure you've got this file here: http://www.via.com.tw/drivers/4in1424a.zip

    If that doesn't work, definitely switch back to the Detonator 2 drivers. YOu aren't the only one who has had problems with them, so it might be a good bet to use the 5.30 version or even something a bit older. Best of luck!

    Ciao!
