Arrow Who all thinks IE5.5 Sucks!

I hate it! When it does work it's fast. But it crashes way to much for me. It's to bad I'm stuck in WinMe And I can't go back to 4.0 or 5.0..

For me it crashes in Hotmail.com everytime at random.

Where does it crash for you?

I haven't had any crashes, but it seems MUCH slower than 5. Like it loads the whole page into the cache before it displays anything.

I don't. I like it a lot. It's my second favorite browser ever. It works much better than 5.01 for me. (My new favorite is Netscape6 R3).

Are you using IE5.5 that came with ME? If so, that is your problem. M$ recommends that all users upgrade to version 5.50.4134.0600. I had similar problems to you and they have now vanished. They said that the early version has many bugs and yours is one of them. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/r...eleaseid=22359

I've gotta say that I've had IE5.5 for a few months now and I haven't had any problems. Maybe the odd few crashes here and there, but with out them it wouldn't be a PC would it???

Big suck for me as well. Constant crashes, especially in hotmail for some odd reason. I went back to 5.01...which works perfectly for me.

Both the last version of IE4 and IE5, 5.01 gave me nothing but headaches - constantly crashing for no good reason - taking all 4 open windows away and forcing a reboot. With IE5.5, none of those crashes occur anymore. Right now, I'm having the "missing pictures" problem occasionally, but overall IE5.5 is nice.

Yes it's way slower especially here in Sharky's Forums. Also I hate the double post.

The native5.5 that came with winme sucks but I will upgrade.Neoplanet runs great on topo of the 5.5 program though. Go figure. My biggest gripe is outlook express5.5.It will not allow me to hyperlink with my default neoplanet browser. Outlook Express 5.1 never gave me this problem. How do I get rid of the new OE and get the old one?

Yes! I agree! It doesn't crash too often for me but it is soooo much more bloated than the 5.0 install on my NT box. If you want to remvoe IE try this free utility (I know it works with 98/NT, but I don't know about ME) http://www.98lite.net/ier_lic.html
If it works reinstall IE 5.0 or whatever from a CD and you're done! Hope it helps!

I just have a utility that downloads all images in a site, displays them on screen. Then I take all they HTML and such that the browser would produce, read it and visualize it in my head. Then I hand write all the packets that the browser would send back to the server. It only takes me about 3 days to view a thread in here, and about 6-8 weeks to reply to a post.

    Red face

The only stoopid thing i notice with this newer version is that when windows start up...my dialup menu pops ups but I havent even opened internet explorer! nuffin else is calling the dialup!
I think its the function within the internet option menu under connection which lets u decide if you want IE dialup automatically if theres no connection! Yeah..i do, but only if i decide to run IE...but now with this version, it just calls it up everytime windows start!
