    Commercial OSX Emulator !

    http://www.wired.com/news/mac/0,2125...tml?tw=rss.TOP

Is this legal? I just can't see how Apple Computers would sit idly by while losing sales. I've personally thought about buying a Mac just for OSX, and I think there are many more people like me sitting on the fence. Apple could lose millions if this is legal.

CherryOS would allow OS X to run on a cheap commodity PC without the added expense of Microsoft's operating system
OS X is more expensive than Windows XP, when you buy a Windows Emulator for an Apple you have to pay for Windows.

    MacBook Pro 13-inch, 2.3Ghz i5, 8GB RAM, 640GB HD
    Desktop: i5 2500K (w/ CM Hyper 212 Plus) , 16GB DDR3, 2x240GB OCZ Agility SSD, 2x1TB in RAID0, 2xeVGA GeForce GTX 570, Corsair TX750M PSU, ASUS Sabertooth P67, Dell 2209WA eIPS LCD
    Home Server: Intel Pentium G630, ASRock H61M/U3S3, 4GB RAM, 80GB + 2TB HD

OSX on a PC? So what. It makes sense to have windows emulated on a Mac because there is so much more software available for windows. But what exactly is the purpose of emulating a Mac? It will likely be slow. The only thing would be getting the interface and that does not seem to be much of a draw that is going to get millions of people to go run out and get it. If it is that important to someone they will likely shell out for a Mac.

I've seen an OSX emulator and it was too slow to be worth anyones while to even bother with it. That was about 6 months ago. They might have gotten some of the bugs worked out though.

It looks like that link just emulates an apple computer. You would still have to buy OSX. I would love it if apple would actually create an OS that ran on PCs so that monopolysoft had some competition so that I didn't have to go on ebay to find an affordable version of xp.

I still say OS X costs a lot more than Windows XP, OS X is $130 from apple while Windows XP is $94 at newegg. Plus Windows XP came out in late 01, and updates for it have been free ever since. OS X came out in early 01 and since then has had 3 releases: 10.1, 10.2 and 10.3, all of which you had to pay for.

OS X is nice, it is just that apple hardware is so expensive.

Windows XP Home - OEM is $94. If you work in the IT industry you are not going to touch Home. The OEM version of XP professional is $145. Notice OEM is bold. The retail copy of XP Home/Pro is over $240.

You can just open up a JPG of an OSX desktop. It will give you the same functionality

actually, OSX is quite nice to work with. A friend of mine has a powerbook, and I love using it. The only stupid thing is that you have to press a button to use right click.
Also, anand says that OSX isn't that bad too.

Do what i do, use a USB logitech mouse. I don't know why Apple still sells the one button versions, OSX is 5x better with a mouse that has two buttons and a scroll wheel. if only for use with mozilla.

Not really, You do not need to be in the IT industry to purchase OEM versions You can purchase it from most online vendors. Some wont even sell hardware with it

However, you can buy an academic version of many MS software, does Apple have such deals????

Also as said before, XP is much cheaper, as they dont charge for updates, when apple does.

So that alone will have XP cheaper.

But I agree with the rest, anything emulated is pure crap. Never as good as the real thing. Always slower, and have quite a few problems.

No one pays retail. I still believe that many people that have XP Pro couldn't tell the different between it an XP Home.

    I can

There are major difference between home and pro, but it does depend on your need and network

"If you work in the IT industry you are not going to touch Home." Nothing about OEM/Retail in that specific statement. Even OEM the pro version is $50 more ($145).
