I have noticed my console playing days have been over since I got my Voodoo 1 card. https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/5.gif I cant imagine playing a game like UT on the PS2...... unless it has a mouse and keyboard, and I think it will. But I just like PC games a little better.
Consoles are definetly better for certain things. It is UNDOUBTEDLY plug and play. No muss with drivers or patches. Also, if you have four controllers , it is a better party system. I remember Goldeneye back in my college days. No sh1tty networking to deal with and it was easy enough so that ppl only had to learn a few buttons to play well.
Very funny. And true. Except I happen to have long hair...Quote:

Anywway, consoles just aren't as much fun damnit. No tweaking, no new drivers to play with, no setup required, hardware upgrades, no game mods, etc... Where's the fun in that?

Although i enjoy playing the computer more than any console, where else do i get to play the newest Zelda? So even though computers are better overall, consoles still rock
I don't think consoles are all that hot. I'll stick with my pc.

The console systems coming out now have the ability to connect to the Internet and (is it the X-Box?) some will actually have hard drive space in them. So, I would expect that in a few generation’s it will become harder to distinguish between consoles and PC’s as far as gaming goes. With drive space and the Internet you will be able to download patches and mods all day long. As well as with USB support (or what ever the standard at the time is) you will be able to plug in your optical mouse and keyboard. However, I am a PC man all the way. Consoles are fun… But, at someone else house… https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/5.gif
Three things I have against consoles...
1)You can only use them with a TV, which has a max resolution of 320x200. Long range sniping? Fugedeboudit... And the deeper the color is, the blurier it is. Example: Try Episode I Racer on the PC and then try it on an N64...see if you notice a difference.
2)Consoles arent upgradable. Your N64 is no better than anybody elses. No bragging rights. If you think the frame rate sucks, you cant pop in a new video card. No cool sound FX you can get from a Vortex2 or an EAX card.
3)The controllers only have ten or twelve buttons...compare that to a three button mouse, a ten button USB joystick, and a 104 button keyboard...(evil laugh)
The X-Box, a PC/console hybrid could change things a little...dont know though. Havent looked at the X-Box specs in detail...

Also, the last console I owned was a Super Nintendo...now Ive got an SNES emulator and all the SNES ROMS I can stand.
And if I got on a wild streak, and decided to play some Playstation games, well I have Bleem...
My console days were over a long time ago.

Consoles are cool - especially for quick multiple player sports games. And the learning curve for console games is a lot shorter since the control is easier.
I love my Dreamcast. But, I do admit that PC games look better. Both platforms have their strong points and they both have their place in the market.
What I don't like is certain companies, *cough sony microsoft cough*, are trying to turn consoles into multi-featured entertainment machines. Heck, if I want to watch a DVD, I'll use my regular DVD player. I buy a console GAMING machine to play games.
Just my 2 cents... :-)
