Maybe Doom doesn't have the greatest storyline, but after that MacExpo demo I want to see more of Doom3. Anyone know when the launch date is and what the Video Card requirements are?

mid to late 2002. It will probably worth the wait though. No systems availabe at the moment will be able to handle it.

i wonder what the system requirements/recommended specs will be. and what will actually perform well with in reality.
why would you even care about the system specs when the game is so far away. who knows what kind of hardware will be out then anyways.

Then tell me what system they were running the demo on when they presented the Geforce 3?
That was doom 3 man.So I think I can say that it can be ran on any of todays h igh end systems.

750mhz Duron
MSI K7T Pro2-A
64mb pc100 Hyundai RAM
64mb pc133 Micron RAM (both running at CAS2 133mhz)
8X4X32 Phillips PCRW804 CD-RW
20GB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM ATA-100 HD
VisionTek Geforce3
Sound:Integrated audio(yeah I know but I dont care still sounds good to me)
Logitech Ifeel Optical mouse(real fun with games that support it)
Altec Lansing ACS33 speakers and one subwoofer
Keyboard:Cheap POS OEM(who cares it works fine for me)
Phillips 107S 17" monitor
So you're saying they are going to release a game in one year that will not run on any computer currently available. That is ludicrous! The company would never even consider that. Its not logical.Quote:

I'm quoting Carmack when some asked him a question about the Xbox.
Here you go, straight from his mouth.Quote:

"I am spending a huge amount of graphics horsepower to allow the engine to be flexible in ways that game engines have never been before. It is a little scary to drop down from the ultra-high frame rates we are used to with Q3, but I firmly believe that the power of the new engine will enable a whole new level of game content.
I am hoping that the absolute top-of-the-line system available when the game ships will be capable of running it with all features enabled and anti-aliasing on at 60hz, but even the fastest cards of today are going to have to run at fairly low resolutions to get decent frame rates. Many will choose to drop a feature or two to get some speed back, but they still won't be able to get near 60hz.
Remember, the game won't ship for a long time yet, and today's cards will seem a bit quaint by then."
I shouldn't have no systems today will be able to handle it, my error.

Doom 3 will be most likely about 8 - 20 months away. You got awhile on this one. They wont start shipping it until Return to Castle Wolfenstein is on the markets and get full intake on it. Which from my understanding RTCW was to be released December 2001 or somewhere Q1-2 2002.

Another year or so to wait?! Damn those corporate pigs for getting us all hyped up now. I'm actually getting tired of playing my fav game: DoomII. They better freakin hurry up with that...at least 1or2Q next year.
