A warning of a fraudulent buyer to sellers!
Last month I received many replies to people who wished to trade their retail 1400 thunderbirds for my 1600XP+ processor. My 8kta3 mobo could only operate the xp at 1050mhz instead of 1400mhz on its kt133a chipset. One member of Sharky forum who goes by the name of "Killer1nstinct," emailed me and phoned me up about the trade. He sounded genuine and I saw that he had hundreds of posts around the forum with honest questions and helpful suggestions to troubled users.
In good faith, I agreed and sent my xp processor, while he was to send his thunderbird. Days went by and I sent emails to him and received no reply until I offered to criminally investigate into fraud on his part. He replied with several excuses and an apology. He stated that he would not need my processor and would send back it to me. Since I shipped it Express, he received my processor on December 24th. It is now January 22nd and I have received nothing in return. He does not reply to my emails and his phone number does not permit me to reach him. He has new posts on the forums weekly as well as his personal web page. So what is with this?
Forums have enabled thousands of honest people to interact with others around the world who have similar interests and ideas. This sort of interaction was once limited to simple local community clubs.
If there is no real legal way of charging dishonest members such as "Killer1nstinct", they should be steps to kick them off forums if information is available that can concretely display their dishonesty.
I think we as a group on this forum, should also find a safe method of doing trades with other members without the stress of perhaps sending money or products and getting nothing in return.
I was the stupid one who sent the product, what about the others on the net who perhaps are not sending the product, but the money instead. This sort of abuse has to stop! It is a real shame that if you trust someone you are labelled a sucker when he blatently rips you off....
If I do receive my processor, I will mention it in this forum, but at this time I am short of a retail XP processor that I invested nearly $300 canadian.
Feel free to contact me for more information, I have nothing to hide.
Best of luck in your trades,
Joe " [email protected] "
